Press Release - Plea of Marianne Murphy

Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an accusation before the Honorable Louis S. Sceusi, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on May 18, 2020, by Marianne Murphy.
Murphy, age 56 of Bloomingdale, pled guilty to one count of Theft, a third degree crime. Sentencing is presently anticipated for June 24, 2020.
In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted that on July 27, 2019 and July 30, 2019, she entered the Franklin Shoprite and purposely took items totaling $1,039.00 that were displayed for sale without the intent to pay for them and with the intent to permanently deprive Shoprite of those items.
The case was investigated by Patrolman Brendan Prol and Detective David Schneider of the Franklin Borough Police Department.
Murphy was represented by Thomas Militano, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Laura L. Nazzaro.
