The historic marker proposed for the front of the Sparta Township Building will denote the Township's incorporation year, the derivation of its name, and a brief history of its founding. A local Eagle Scout constructed a pathway and standing area where the marker is to be placed. This marker will make the history of the Township easily accessible to residents and visitors. It is important for every community to preserve its history and heritage, and through this program Sparta Township will have a historic marker that will celebrate its past. This marker will do nothing but boost pride and educate residents and visitors about Sparta.
