On the Horse Farm
To minimize larval habitat on the horse farm:
- Empty and rinse troughs twice a week
- Minimize the creation of ground impressions - tire ruts, hoof prints - to a practicable extent
- Use landscaping to minimize standing surface water
- Aerate and/or stock small ponds with fish
- For areas of standing water that cannot be drained use larvicides
To minimize exposure to adult mosquitoes:
- Keep horses inside during periods of high mosquito activity
- Keep lights off and fans on at night
