On the Farm

To minimize larval habitat on the farm:

• Maintain irrigation and runoff ditches, removing silt and vegetation as necessary
• Cover rain barrels with screening to impede mosquito activity
• Empty and rinse troughs twice a week
• Eliminate pockets of rainwater on equipment and tarps
• Discard tires at an approved facility (or slice or drill holes to prevent water collection)
• Minimize the creation of ground impressions- tire ruts, hoof prints to a practicable extent
• Aerate and/or stock small ponds with fish
• For areas of standing water that cannot be drained use larvicides
