Board of County Commissioners
Jack DeGroot
Commissioner
(Term: 1/24 - 12/26)
Wantage (R)
Commissioner Jack DeGroot secured his seat on the Board of County Commissioners on November 7, 2023. Raised on his family's dairy farm in Wantage, Jack fostered a deep appreciation for agriculture and the rural heritage of Sussex County. His commitment to this appreciation is demonstrated through his decade-long involvement with Sussex County 4-H and hands-on work on his family's dairy farm.
In 2017, Jack graduated from High Point Regional High School, leaving a mark as a 1,000-point scorer on the basketball court—the first in over a decade. Continuing his academic and athletic journey, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Finance from Marywood University in 2021. Furthering his commitment to education, Jack served as a full-time Teaching Assistant at the University of New Hampshire and also as an Instructor during the 2022 Summer Semester. Jack graduated with a Masters Degree in Statistics in September 2023 from the University of New Hampshire.
Before stepping into elected office, Jack gained valuable experience working for the Office of New Hampshire Governor Christopher T. Sununu. In this role, he conducted policy research, analyzed pending legislation, and performed statistical and data analysis for state program departments. Equipped with this experience and drawing insights into budgeting strategies from one of the nation's most financially responsible Governors, Jack is ready to serve Sussex County.
