Press Release - Sentencing of Thomas N. Duffy

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Thomas N. Duffy, who appeared before the Honorable Louis S. Sceusi, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on April 16, 2021.
 
     Duffy, age 36, of Newton, was sentenced to 280 days county jail, the first 60 days to be served in county jail, the balance to be served on the Sussex County Home Detention Program, and three (3) years probation.  Along with the standard conditions of Probation he must also undergo TASC and mental health evaluations and follow all recommendations, submit a DNA sample, forfeit devices seized during investigation, comply with overt monitoring, adhere to Internet and social media restrictions and pay $190.00 in court fines and fees. 
 
     He pled guilty on June 23, 2020, to Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a crime of the third degree.
 
     The defendant possessed files on his cellular phone, which contained digital images depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor.  
 
     Duffy was represented by Dan Palazzo, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
