Press Release - Plea of Deanna H. Wassmer

March 30, 2021

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an accusation before the Honorable Louis S. Sceusi, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 30, 2021, by Deanna H. Wassmer.

     Wassmer, age 27 of Hamburg, pled guilty to Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, a third degree crime.  Sentencing is presently anticipated for May 6, 2021.

     In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to being in possession of heroin on October 25, 2020, in Sandyston Township.  

     The case was investigated by Tpr. A.J. Hendrix, Tpr. N.D. McGarrity and Tpr. R.H. Hoffman of the New Jersey State Police.

     Wassmer was represented by Elizabeth Smith, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
