Sussex County Youth Camp Inspections Are Now On-line
The Sussex County Division of Health (SCDOH) is pleased to announce that a listing of the County's Youth Camps inspected by the Department is now available online. Each inspection checks for compliance with NJ State regulations for Youth Camp Standards (N.J.A.C. 8:25) and ensures that camps are implementing the New Jersey Youth Camp Safety Act. These regulations "set forth the standards necessary to promote, protect and safeguard the health and well being of the youth who attend a youth camp."
All youth camps receive an annual inspection of their food service and recreational bathing facilities by the Department's Registered Environmental Health Specialists (Health Inspectors) to ensure that required standards are implemented. The SCDOH will also provide youth camps with a pre-operational inspection for safety standards, unless they are certified by the American Camp Association (ACA). If they are certified, then the ACA is responsible for completing inspections to ensure the youth camps meet those requirements.
A complete listing of the New Jersey Youth Camp Standards and the Sussex County Youth Camps can be viewed on the Sussex County website.
Additionally, the Division conducts over 1,000 inspections of retail food establishments throughout the County annually. Inspections conducted from January 1, 2001 forward are also available to the public by following the link for "Food Inspection Results Online" on the County's website and clicking on the "Search Inspections" icon.
