Caregiver Support Groups - Coping with Stress
Caregiver Support Groups
Coping with Stress
[Newton, NJ] The Sussex County Department of Health & Human Services, Division of Senior Services recognizes the need to support caregivers within the community. The Administration on Aging reports that families are the major provider of long-term care support for their aging and/or disabled family member. In addition, research has shown that caregiving for these individuals exact a heavy emotional toll. Almost fifty percent of all caregivers are over the age of 50, making them more vulnerable to a decline in their own health, both physically and emotionally. Studies have shown that counseling and support services can reduce caregiver stress to help them cope more effectively with their responsibilities. Thus, the Sussex County Department of Health & Human Services, Division of Senior Services will be facilitating two separate support groups for caregivers. By participating in a support group, individuals will learn how to reduce the negative effects of stress and increase their own physical and psychological wellness. Information about relevant programs and services, how to access them, and the necessary referrals will also be available. Beginning in January and continuing through the end of the year, these groups will be offered one time per month in two separate but convenient locations:
200 Bristol Glen Dr
Newton, NJ 07860
Day: First Tuesday of every month
Time: 3 p.m.- 4 p.m.
*** Newton Program Flyer ***
