SCLS Celebrates Take Your Child to the Library Day on February 3, 2024
Newton, NJ – The Sussex County Library System (SCLS) is excited to celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day on Saturday, February 3. Families in the community are invited to join us at any SCLS branch to explore all the library has to offer and discover some library magic.
Activities kids can enjoy on Take Your Child to the Library Day:
Make a Library Card Holder at Dennis from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Drop in and let the kids spend some time making a library card holder. Materials and instructions will be provided. While supplies last. Dennis Branch, 101 Main St, Newton, NJ
Color a Bookmark at Sussex-Wantage from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Stop by the children’s table to pick up a bookmark to color. While supplies last. Sussex-Wantage Branch, 69 Route 639, Wantage, NJ
Bingo Scavenger Hunt at Main Library from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm Pick up a bingo board in the children’s area. Complete a line for BINGO (or try for the whole card) and win a sticker or winter bookmark. Main Library, 125 Morris Turnpike, Frankford, NJ
Make a Library Card Holder at Louise Child from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Drop in to make your own library card holder. Recommended for children ages 3 and above. Materials and instructions will be provided. While supplies last. Louise Childs Branch, 21 Stanhope Sparta Rd, Stanhope, NJ
Additionally, participants in 1000 Books Before Kindergarten, are invited to join Youth Services at the Main Library at 10:00 am for a special celebration. The highlight of the event will be the presentation of certificates to children who have completed the 1000 books milestone. All participants will enjoy a preschool magic show by our special guest, Brian Richards.

Take Your Child to the Library Day (TYCLD) was founded in 2011 at the Waterford Public Library in Connecticut. Since the launch of TYCLD in 2011, celebrations have been held across the United States and Canada and around the world, serving 48.7 million people.
