The Sussex County Division of Health, Office of Mosquito Control is investigating a positive Jamestown Canyon Virus (JCV) sample of adult mosquitoes in Green Township. Jamestown Canyon Virus has been found in adult mosquitoes in Sussex County since 2019. The Office urges residents to protect themselves from mosquito bites by applying EPA registered repellents and to return indoors at dusk and dawn during peak mosquito activity. The Sussex County Office of Mosquito Control will continue to trap and test adult mosquitoes for disease in addition to conducting ultra-low-volume truck applications within the areas of known disease prevalence.
