Newton, NJ – The Sussex County Library System (SCLS) is excited to announce the launch of a community donation drive to benefit The Sussex County Division of Social Services Food Pantry. As part of the 2023 Summer Reading Program themed ALL TOGETHER NOW™ – a celebration of kindness, friendship, and community – community members are invited to join SCLS in making a difference by donating non-perishable food items to each of the six library branches.

Donation wishes per branch:
Main Library, 125 Morris Turnpike in Frankford, is collecting canned goods.
Dennis Branch, 101 Main Street in Newton, is collecting baby food.
Dorothy Henry Branch, 66 Route 94 in Vernon, is collecting rice and pasta.
Franklin Branch, 103 Main Street in Franklin, is collecting pet food.
Louise Childs Branch, 21 Stanhope Sparta Road in Stanhope, is collecting peanut butter and jelly.
Sussex-Wantage Branch, 69 County Route 639 in Wantage, is collecting condiments.

Donate to all six branches and qualify for prizes!
Participants registered in the 2023 Summer Reading Program will be given Donation Scavenger Hunt Cards. Once participants have gathered stamps from all six branches, donation cards can be submitted to qualify for prizes. Prize 1 for kids and families is a 4-pack of 1-day admission tickets to Legoland NY Resort. Prize 2 for adults is a $50 “Let’s Eat” Restaurant Gift Card in an SCLS Campfire Mug.

"We are proud to initiate this food donation drive," said Will Porter, Library Director. "Our libraries have always been a place of gathering and support, and this is another opportunity for us to come together and make a positive impact on our community by addressing food insecurities locally."

The Donation Drive and all Summer Reading activities run from June 24th through July 29th. Prize winners will be contacted in early August.
