Press Release - Sentencing of Juan C. Gomez-Sarrazola

Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Juan C. Gomez-Sarrazola, who appeared before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Virtual Courtroom in Newton on May 13, 2022.
Gomez-Sarrazola, age 27, of Newark, was sentenced to four years non-custodial probation and 180 days of incarceration with credit for five days already served. He was ordered to complete 50 hours of community service, submit a DNA sample, complete a defensive driver course, submit to a TASC evaluation, follow any and all recommendations, maintain employment, and appropriate fines and fees. His driving privileges were ordered suspended for six months.
He pled guilty on March 9, 2022, to Eluding, a crime of the third degree and various motor vehicle offenses.
The defendant continued to drive his motorcycle in Wantage Township on April 18, 2021, despite being signaled to stop by law enforcement.
Gomez-Sarrazola was represented by Edward Bilinkas, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Magdalen Czykier.
