Press Release - Sentencing of Chad Hines

Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Chad Hines who appeared before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on May 9, 2022.
Hines, age 42, of Little Ferry, was sentenced to time served with 537 days jail credit and one year non-custodial probation. In addition to the standard conditions of probation he must submit to a Substance Abuse Evaluation if required by probation and follow all recommendations, submit a DNA sample, and pay $1149 in fines/fees.
He pled guilty on March 2, 2022, to Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, a crime of the third degree.
The defendant admitted to possessing heroin on his person and in his vehicle on May 6, 2020 in Vernon Township.
Hines was represented by Daniel G. Marchese, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
