Press Release - Plea of Mark Houghtaling

Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an accusation before the Honorable Louis S. Sceusi, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 31, 2021, by Mark Houghtaling.
Houghtaling, age 41 of Sussex, pled guilty to Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, a third degree crime, and to a violation of probation. Sentencing is presently anticipated for April 21, 2021.
In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to being in possession of heroin on January 27, 2021, in Vernon Township.
The case was investigated by Ptl. Joseph Roccasanta of the Vernon Township Police Department.
Houghtaling was represented by Bruce C. Farrier, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
