Press Release - Plea of Jeffrey Salazar

March 11, 2021

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an accusation before the Honorable Louis S. Sceusi, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 9, 2021, by Jeffrey Salazar.

     Salazar, age 50 of Wantage, pled guilty to Assault by Auto, a fourth degree crime, False Report, a third degree crime, and Misuse of 9-1-1, a fourth degree crime.  Sentencing for those guilty pleas and guilty pleas and sentencing for motor vehicle offenses is presently anticipated for April 15, 2021.

     In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted that he drove his vehicle recklessly in Wantage Township on May 28, 2020, and caused bodily injury to an individual, provided false information to law enforcement and called the 9-1-1 emergency system without the need for said service.  

     The case was investigated by Tpr. A. Hendrix and Tpr. A. Ventura of the New Jersey State Police. 

     Salazar was represented by William J. Oake, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
