Sussex County, NJ – On Saturday, June 24, 2023, the Sussex County Library System celebrated the start of the 2023 Summer Reading Program with fun and educational events at each of its six branches.
Attendees at the Dorothy Henry, Franklin, and Sussex-Wantage branches were treated to an energetic and educational presentation from Eyes of the Wild including up-close and personal encounters with animals—teaching respect for our environment and all of the creatures that live in it. Children and families at the Dennis, Louise Childs, and Main branches experienced the wonders of the universe in an inflatable planetarium from the Pearl Observatory. Excited participants were able to learn about our solar system, planets, stars, and constellations while seeing them up close.
The Sussex County Library System extends its deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff, enthusiastic volunteers, and community partners who contributed their time and resources to make the Summer Reading Kickoff Events successful. SCLS looks forward to a memorable 2023 Summer Reading Program.
Throughout the summer, SCLS is holding a series of engaging and enriching activities to captivate community members and encourage a joy for reading and learning for all ages. Events for children, tweens, and teens include storytimes, playtimes, special craft and STEM activities, movie matinees, and more. Adults can enjoy art and book discussions, poetry readings, music, nature presentations, crafts, water coloring, yoga, meditation, and more.
Summer Reading activities run from June 24 through July 29, 2023. Visit your local branch or go to the Summer Reading page at sussexcountylibrary.org for complete details on how to participate.
