PHANFest Benefits Sussex County Food Pantry

Release Date: July 06, 2010
Six Centuries Club of America, Inc. Holds Fundraiser to Fight Hunger

David Messineo, President of the Six Centuries Club of America, Inc., presented the Sussex County Department of Human Services, Division of Social Services Emergency Food Pantry with $200 worth of food in memory of his father, John Messineo, Jr., on June 15, 2010, which would have been his father’s 72nd birthday.

The Six Centuries Club of America, a literary, cultural and historical organization started in 1987, held PHANfest 1 on June 13, 2010 at the Secaucus Public Library. New Jersey publishers of poetry were invited to take part in what is planned to be an annual poetry reading and fundraiser to give a “summer boost” to NJ food pantries. The event met its goal of raising $1000 to be divided among six northern NJ food pantries, including Sussex County.

The Sussex County Department of Human Services, Division of Social Services thanks all publishers, poets, individuals and small business contributors who made this donation possible. If anyone is in need of food for themselves, their family or their pets, they can stop by the Division of Social Services, 83 Spring Street, Suite 203, Newton, on Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. No appointments are necessary
