The Sussex County Prosecutor's Office of Victim Witness Advocacy provides case information to victims through a variety of letters mailed to them. Information is provided from the time the case is opened through its resolution. The following circumstances generate letters, if and when they should occur:

  • Initial Contact Letter: informs the victim that the case has been received. A Victim Impact Form is also included with this letter.
  • Pre-Grand Jury Remand
  • Administrative Dismissal
  • Grand Jury Remand
  • Grand Jury Dismissal
  • Indictment Returned
  • Pre-Trial Proceeding
  • Applied for Pre-Trial Intervention Program (PTI)
  • Acceptance into Pre-Trial Intervention Program
  • Completion of/Termination from Pre-Trial Intervention Program
  • Negotiated Plea
  • Fugitive Status
  • Court Dismissal
  • Sentencing Date
  • Sentence Imposed
  • Parole Registry/Eligibility/Consideration/Release Date
  • Mistrial/Retrial
  • Mistrial/Dismissal
  • Released from Prison/Expiration of Sentence/Community Release Programs/Intensive Supervision Program
