Press Release - Plea of Algernon J. Lee

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an accusation before the Honorable Thomas J. Critchley, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on September 24, 2019, by Algernon J. Lee.
     Lee, age 49, of Newark, pled guilty to two counts of Shoplifting, both third degree crimes and one count of a fourth degree crime of Shoplifting.  Sentencing is presently anticipated for October 25, 2019. 
     In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted that on June 27, 2019, he took merchandise from the ShopRite in Byram Township and the Stop and Shop in Sparta without making payment. 
     The case was investigated by Detective Robert Tierney of the Byram Township Police Department and Patrolman Timothy Lynott of the Sparta Police Department.
     Lee was represented by Vincent Scoca, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent Rafuse.
