Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to accusations before the Honorable Thomas J. Critchley, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on August 5, 2019, by Robert A. Davis.
Davis, age 36 of Lake Hopatcong, pled guilty to two counts of Shoplifting, both fourth degree crimes, Theft of a Credit Card, a fourth degree crime and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, a third degree crime. Sentencing is presently anticipated for September 20, 2019.
In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to taking merchandise from the ShopRite in Byram Township on January 9, 2019.
Davis also admitted to taking a co-worker’s credit card on January 22, 2019 and to using the credit card for unauthorized purchases.
The case was investigated by Detective Brian Hasssloch of the Sparta Township Police Department and Detective Robert Tierney of the Byram Police Department.
Davis was represented by Charles O’Connell, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Magdalen Czykier.
