Press Release - Plea of Michael Szczepanski

Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an indictment before the Honorable Thomas J. Critchley, Jr., J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on July 8, 2019, by Michael Szczepanski.
Szczepanski, age 50, of Brooklyn, New York, pled guilty to one count of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, a third degree crime and one count of Public False Alarm to Law Enforcement, a fourth degree crime.
On July 8, 2018, Szcepanski admitted to 9-1-1 Dispatch and State Police on scene to possessing a BB pistol without first having obtained a permit to carry. Szcepanski also placed a call from his cell phone to 9-1-1 Emergency Telephone System without purpose of reporting the need for 9-1-1 service.
Szczepanski was represented by Charles O’Connell, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Magdalen Czykier. Sentencing is scheduled for August 22, 2019.
