Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an indictment before the Honorable Thomas J. Critchley, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on April 1, 2019, by Sheila Roe-Celentano.
Celentano, age 44, of Franklin, pleaded guilty to one count of Resisting Arrest, a third degree crime, one count of Obstruction, a fourth degree crime and to one count of Simple Assault, a disorderly persons offense.
In pleading guilty, Celentano admitted that on November 2, 2018, she purposely did prevent Newton Law Enforcement Officer, Sgt. Robert Vander Ploeg, from effecting a lawful arrest by using physical force against the officer and to obstructing Law Enforcement Officers from effecting a lawful arrest by shouting obscenities and threatening kicks in their direction. Later that same day, she admitted to purposely causing bodily injury to another person in Newton.
Celentano was represented by Thomas Militano, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Magdalen Czykier. Sentencing is scheduled for May 24, 2019.
