Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of William J. Davenport, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 22, 2019.
Davenport, age 30, of Sussex, was sentenced to credit for seventeen months time already served in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility and three years Probation. He must also abstain from any alcohol or drugs, undergo a TASC evaluation and Mental Health evaluation and follow all recommendations and seek counseling and complete 12 hours of IDRC. The defendant must also pay $919.00 in court fines and fees.
He pled guilty on February 6, 2019, to third degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and third degree Witness Tampering.
The defendant was in possession of a shotgun when pulled over by New Jersey State Troopers for a motor vehicle violation. He was also making threatening comments to a witness in another matter.
Davenport was represented by Daniel Marchese, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
