Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Lloyd McCavitt, who appeared before the Honorable Thomas J. Critchley, Jr., J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on February 22, 2019.
McCavitt, age 45 of Vernon, was sentenced to two years of non-custodial probation. He was ordered to continue intensive outpatient treatment, submit to a TASC evaluation if required, pay mandatory minimum fines and fees totaling $889.00 and complete 30 days of community service work and 48 hours at the Intoxicated Drivers Resource Center. His driver license was ordered suspended for two years, and he must utilize an ignition interlock device for one year.
He pled guilty on December 17, 2018, to Possession of a Controlled Dangerous substance, a third degree crime, and to Driving Under the Influence, a motor vehicle violation.
On September 24, 2018, the defendant was stopped for a motor vehicle violation in Hardyston Township. The defendant was in possession of heroin and was driving under the influence.
McCavitt was represented by Daniel Colfax, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Shaina Brenner.
