Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Troy Leonard, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on January 25, 2019.
Troy Leonard, age 35, of Avenel, NJ, was sentenced to four years at the Avenel Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center with credit for 857 days served. He also must have no contact with the victim or the victim’s family, no unsupervised contact with minors under the age of 16, and pay standard fines and fees. At his release, he will be required to register under Megan’s Law and will be supervised under Parole Supervision for Life.
He pled guilty on October 22, 2018, to Endangering the Welfare of a Child (a third degree crime). Leonard admitted to committing an act of sexual contact against a child under the age of sixteen. The matter was investigated by the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office.
