Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an indictment before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on November 28, 2018, by Matthew Heyman.
Heyman, age 27 of North Yonkers, New York, pled guilty to Vehicular Homicide, a second degree time, and Driving While Intoxicated, a motor vehicle violation. Sentencing is presently anticipated for April 5, 2019.
In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to driving while intoxicated on January 29, 2016, on County Route 565 (Glenwood Road) in Vernon, and to crossing the double yellow center lines and causing a head-on collision in which an individual died.
The case was investigated by Patrolman Nicholas Palmisano and Detective Shaun Fitzgerald of the Vernon Township Police Department.
Heyman was represented by John Bruno, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
