Press Release - Sentencing of Rachel Pier

Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Rachel Pier, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on October 5, 2018.
Pier, age 39 of Sussex, was sentenced to three years of probation with credit for six days of time served. She was ordered to complete a defensive driving course, 100 hours of community service work and 48 hours of IDRC, attend AA/NA meetings at least once per week, submit to a TASC evaluation, if required, provide a DNA sample and pay $1,094.00 in fines and fees. Her driver’s license was ordered suspended for two years, and she must utilize an ignition interlock device for one year.
She pled guilty on August 20, 2018, to Assault by Auto, a fourth degree crime, and Driving While Intoxicated (second offense), a motor vehicle offense.
On October 20, 2017, the defendant caused a motor vehicle accident in Vernon Township and injured an individual because she drove a vehicle recklessly while intoxicated (second offense).
