Press Release - Sentencing of Brian Liljestrand

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Brian Liljestrand, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on February 16, 2018.
     Liljestrand, age 39 of Honesdale, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to three years of probation.  He was ordered to submit to a TASC evaluation and follow any and all recommendations made from same, complete 200 hours of community service work and 12 hours at the Intoxicated Drivers Resource Center, submit to random urine screenings, attend two NA/AA meetings per week, provide a DNA sample, continue and complete the Path outpatient program in Pennsylvania, and pay fines and fees totaling $2,519.00 and restitution of $107.98.  His driver license was ordered suspended for seven months. 
     He pled guilty on November 27, 2017, to Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and Forgery, both third degree crimes, and Driving Under the Influence, a motor vehicle offense.   
     The defendant was stopped on June 16, 2017, in Lafayette for a motor vehicle offense and was in possession of heroin and driving under the influence.  He also paid for merchandise with a fake $100 bill on September 1, 2017, in Frankford. 
     Liljestrand was represented by Elizabeth Foster, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Sally Anne Monkemeier.
