Press Release - Sentencing of Gregory S. Whitehead

Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Gregory S. Whitehead, who appeared before the Honorable Louis Sceusi, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on September 3, 2020.
Whitehead, age 48 of Montague, NJ, was sentenced to serve 364 days of incarceration in the Morris County Correctional Facility with a credit of 137 days for time served as a condition of a his four (4) year custodial probation term. Additionally, he must submit to a TASC Evaluation and follow all recommendations, enroll and successfully complete the DECIDE Program, and submit to a DNA Test. Whitehead is barred from owning, possessing, or controlling any firearms, or receiving or retaining a firearms purchaser identification card, or permit to purchase a handgun. He is further to have no contact with the victim, H.M. and must pay mandatory fines and fees.
On July 21, 2020, Whitehead pled guilty to Aggravated Assault, in the third degree – admitting to striking H.M. and causing significant bodily injury.
Whitehead was represented by Brian D. Kenney, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Nikoletta Agouras.
