Press Release - Sentencing of Michael Collett

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Michael Collett, who appeared before the Honorable Thomas J. Critchley, Jr., J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 22, 2019.
     Collett, age 33 of Mine Hill, was sentenced to three years of probation with credit for 12 days of time served.  He was ordered to submit to a TASC evaluation and follow any and all recommendations made from same, cooperate in the prosecution of the co-defendant, and pay all mandatory minimums including fines, fees and penalties totaling $1,938.00. His driver license was ordered suspended for six months. 
     He pled guilty on February 7, 2019, to Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, a third degree crime, Hindering Apprehension, a disorderly persons offense, and Driving While Suspended, a motor vehicle offense.
     On December 14, 2018, Andover Police stopped a vehicle operated by Collett for a motor vehicle offense.  The defendant was in possession of heroin, provided a false name to police, and was driving while suspended.
     Collett was represented by Shaun Morgan Russell, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent Rafuse.
