Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Duanta Edwards, who appeared before the Honorable Thomas J. Critchley, Jr., J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 15, 2019.
Edwards, age 41 of Newark, was sentenced to two years of probation. He was ordered to pay $1,155 in fines and fees.
He pled guilty on October 24, 2018, to Obtaining a Controlled Dangerous Substance by Fraud, a third degree crime.
On January 23, 2018, Edwards presented a fraudulent prescription for Oxycodone HCL to Newton Shop Rite Pharmacy and received the prescription. The pharmacist checked the validity of the script and discovered the prescription was fraudulent.
Edwards was represented by Christopher Gore, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Rachelle Jones.
