Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Thomas Rae, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on January 11, 2019.
Rae, age 52 of Newton, was sentenced to three years of probation and 364 days in jail with credit for 29 days of time served with regard to the fourth degree Criminal Trespass. He was ordered to submit to a TASC evaluation and follow any and all recommendations made from same, obtain a sponsor and attend AA meetings seven times per week, submit a DNA sample, have no contact with the victim, submit to a mental health evaluation at Probation’s discretion, make restitution of $1,000.00 and pay fines and fees totaling $155.00. With regard to the violation of probation, the defendant was terminated from probation as unimproved and entered a collection agreement for $2,177.00. He was given jail credit of 37 days.
He pled guilty on September 26, 2018, to Criminal Trespass, a fourth degree crime, and a violation of probation.
The defendant entered a Newton home in June 2018 without permission.
