Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Christofer Pena-Jimenez, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on June 8, 2018.
Pena-Jimenez, age 24, of Bronx, New York, was sentenced to 2 years probation, with 1 day jail credit. He was also ordered to maintain employment, complete a safe driver course, complete his GED, write a letter of apology to the police officer involved, and pay mandatory fines and fees.
Pena-Jimenez pled guilty on April 16, 2018 to one (1) count of eluding, a third degree offense and reckless driving, a motor vehicle offense.
On July 21, 2017, Pena-Jimenez drove his motorcycle at a high rate of speed, passing other motorists over the double yellow line through a school zone, and failed to stop for law enforcement officers.
Pena-Jimenez was represented by Thomas F. Militano, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Shaina Brenner.
