Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of David Heller, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on May 4, 2018.
Heller, age 32 of Unionville, New York, was sentenced to 270 days in jail with credit for 176 days time served and four (4) years probation. Heller was also ordered to obtain a psychological evaluation, attend anger management and to pay mandatory fines and fees.
Heller pled guilty on January 16, 2018 to one (1) count of Aggravated Assault, a third degree crime. On November 9, 2017, Heller met his ex-girlfriend to drop off their daughter and they got into an argument and Heller strangled her until she lost consciousness.
Heller was represented by Thomas F. Militano, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Stephanie C. LaCarrubba.
