Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Molly Perez, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 23, 2018.
Perez, age 21 of Newton, NJ, was sentenced to eighteen (18) months of probation and ordered to pay mandatory fines and fees. Perez also received three (3) days jail credit.
Perez pled guilty on January 29, 2018 to one (1) count of Simple Assault, a disorderly persons offense. On December 11, 2017, Perez was arrested for aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. After an altercation with her boyfriend, Perez stabbed him in the back with a kitchen knife.
