Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Stephen Carpenter, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on January 12, 2018.
Carpenter, age 26, of Hopatcong, New Jersey, was sentenced to 12 months probation. He was also ordered to complete a TASC evaluation and pay mandatory fines and fees.
Carpenter pled guilty on November 13, 2017 to one (1) count of failure to turn over CDS, a disorderly persons offense.
On October 3, 2017, Newton Police Department received a call about an unresponsive and intoxicated male in his vehicle. Carpenter was found to be in possession of CDS and drug paraphernalia.
Carpenter was represented by Jeffrey S. Katz, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Shaina Brenner.
