Protecting Your Pets Event at Senior Life Center at SCCC

Release Date: May 01, 2019

The Senior Life Center at SCCC is hosting an informative workshop on advanced planning for your pet. The Karen Quinlan Center, a partner of the Senior Life Center, is bringing experts to the Senior Center to share information that every caring pet owner should know.

Each and every pet has certain needs that should be recognized and respected. This workshop will review how to make sure your wishes for your pet are carried out if you are no longer able to care for your pets. The workshop will also cover topics on how to care for a pet who is facing a life-limiting illness, how to cope with your anticipatory grief and some options for honoring and memorializing your pet when they pass away.

Speakers include the following: Dr. Karen Bullock, Wantage Veterinary Hospital, speaking on end of life care, palliative care and long-term illness; Elenora L. Benz, Esq., author of the New Jersey's original pet trust law, discussing pet trusts, estate planning and wills; Diana Sebzda, MA, LPC, FT, Joseph T. Quinlan Bereavement Center, discussing anticipated grief and pet loss; and Heather Sewenke, Abbey Glen Pet Memorial park, discussing After Life Options.
