Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Christopher W. Barry, who appeared before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. in the Sussex County Virtual Courtroom in Newton on September 9, 2021.
Barry, age 35, of Wantage, was sentenced to three years non-custodial Probation and a ninety (90) day loss of his driver’s license. Along with the standard conditions of Probation he must also undergo a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations, submit a DNA sample, complete 75 hours of community service, seek and maintain employment, and pay $1,207.00 in fines and fees.
Barry pled guilty on August 2, 2021, to Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, a crime of the third degree and a Motor Vehicle Summons of Careless Driving.
The defendant was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Newton. While police were investigating the crash, Fentanyl was found in his vehicle.
Barry was represented by Matthew W. Young, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Magdalen Czykier.
