Press Release - Sentencing of Renee Tripp

Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Renee Tripp, who appeared before the Honorable Louis S. Sceusi, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 6, 2020.
Tripp, age 73, of Newton, was sentenced to two years Probation with 30 days in the In-Home Detention Program, a seven month loss of her driver’s license. She must also complete 12 hours of IDRC, have a mandatory interlock device on her vehicle, undergo a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations, pay $2329.76 in restitution and $1,185.00 in court fines and fees.
She pled guilty on January 27, 2020, to Assault by Auto, a crime of the third degree, two counts of Disorderly Persons Assault by Auto and Motor Vehicle Summons Driving While Intoxicated.
The defendant had cocktails with her dinner at a Byram Township restaurant and then drove intoxicated, resulting in a multi-vehicle accident with serious injuries.
Tripp was represented by Blair Zwillman, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
