Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Manuel Oliveira, who appeared before the Honorable Stuart A. Minkowitz, A.J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on January 28, 2020.
Oliveira, age 35 of Byram, was sentenced to five years New Jersey State Prison (NJSP) with a stipulation of one year parole ineligibility for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon with jail credit of 195 days to run concurrently with three years for Burglary with jail credit of 239 days. He was ordered to submit a DNA sample and pay fines and fees totaling $280.00.
He pled guilty on October 31, 2019, to Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, a second degree crime, and Burglary, a third degree crime.
The defendant was unlawfully in possession of a handgun on October 18, 2018, and entered the secured area of a residence during the month of September 2017 and stole items. Both incidents occurred in Byram Township.
Oliveira was represented by Thomas Militano, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
