Press Release - Sentencing of Susan Malvasia

Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Susan Malvasia, who appeared before the Honorable Thomas J. Critchley, Jr., J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on July 12, 2019.
Malvasia, age 67, of Hamburg, was sentenced 180 days in the Morris County Correctional Facility as a condition of Probation, 100 hours community service, 10 years, 7 months loss of her Driver’s License, 3 years Interlock System, and complete 48 hours class time at IDRC. In addition, Malvasia was ordered to pay $2,800.00 in restitution and a $1,000.00 fine for DUI.
Malvasia, previously pled guilty to Assault by Auto and to the following Motor Vehicle violations: Driving Under the Influence, two counts of Driving While Suspended, Refusing a Breath Test, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
On two separate occasions, Malvasia hit another vehicle with her own vehicle. On both occurrences she was driving with a suspended license and on one incident, she was driving while under the influence of alcohol.
Malvsia was represented by Shepard Kays, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent Rafuse.
