Social Services Food Pantry Receives ShopRite Partners in Caring Donation

Release Date: March 22, 2010
ShopRite of Montague chooses to donate a $1000 Partners in Caring award to the Sussex County Division of Social Services to aid in the fight against hunger.

The Sussex County Division of Social Services was the recipient of a ShopRite Partners in Caring donation of $1,000 on March 22, 2010 to help in the fight against hunger in Sussex County. The ShopRite of Montague was one of 43 stores to receive recognition from General Mills Corporation for raising nearly $500,000 toward the effort to raise hunger awareness and to provide food for those in need. General Mills awarded them an additional $1,000 to donate to the hunger charity of their choice.

Through the efforts of Joseph Lashendock, who was instrumental in implementing a food drive at ShopRite of Montague that also benefited the Division of Social Service food pantry, ShopRite of Montague chose the Sussex County Division of Social Services as its recipient agency.

Dagmar Murphy, Customer Account Manager for General Mills Corporation was on hand as Tira Medina, Shopper Advocate presented a check for $1000 to Joseph Lashendock, who accepted the donation on behalf of the Division of Social Services.
