The Office of Purchasing is involved in all procurement issues for the County of Sussex. This Office is actively involved in cooperative purchasing within the County through both a County Cooperative Contract Purchasing System and a Cooperative Pricing System.
Sussex County government is committed to procuring necessary goods and services through a competitive process in which a large number of qualified vendors can participate. In its purchasing procedures, Sussex County conforms to all state laws (N.J.S.A. 40A:11) and regulations (link to State Procurement web site) which govern purchasing for local governments in New Jersey.
Since the principal objective of the Purchasing Office is the acquisition of quality goods and services at the lowest cost, we are constantly seeking new sources of supply. Vendors interested in receiving information about Sussex County government's purchasing needs and requirements are encouraged to contact the Sussex County Office of Purchasing.
Bid requests are always published in The New Jersey Herald (Sign up to receive an email alert) and in some instances may be published elsewhere as well. Sussex County is exempt from the New Jersey Sales and Use Tax and in most cases products and services that are purchased to fulfill a contract with the county are also tax exempt. Specific information regarding tax exempt regulations can be obtained from the New Jersey Division of Taxation.
