The Sussex County Division of Engineering hopes the following information is beneficial and provides an understanding of our efforts to secure infrastructure project funding available through ARRA of 2009.New Jersey has received about $469 million through this act for state highway and bridge infrastructure projects administered through NJDOT.
Additionally, the state has received approximately $162 million which will be suballocated for subregion highway and bridge projects.The $162 million will be administered through the states three Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO).Eligible subregion projects include infrastructure along state, county, or municipal transportation systems provided they are federal-aid eligible.
Project Timeline:
·January 23, 2009: Sussex County is solicited by North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA), our MPO, for preliminary project list valued at approximately $7 million dollars.
·January 27, 2009:Sussex County Division of Engineering provides an initial federally eligible project list of seven projects to NJTPA, for their review.
·February 2009: Sussex County Division of Engineering staff works on complaining documents needed to support project applications in anticipation of the final law.
·February 17, 2009: President Obama signs ARRA into law.
·March 2, 2009: Sussex County Division of Engineering receives notice from NJTPA that Sussex County projects have been allocated $3,720,000 of the $124 million NJTPA received through ARRA.NJTPA funding allotment by subregion can be found below.
·March 4, 2009:Sussex County Division of Engineering submits updated project list to NJTPA based upon funding allocation.
·Fall 2009:Sussex County Division of Engineering forwards Final Bid Documents (Plans and Specifications) along with all support and report data to NJDOT Local Aid for Authorization.
·Spring 2010:Sussex County Division of Engineering, after receipt of NJDOT authorization, Bids Projects.
·April-May:Sussex County Division of Engineering awards Contractors to Lowest Responsible Bidders.
·May: Project Construction begins.
