(5/20/2013) Bridge X-54 (Oil City Road) Temporary Road Closure & Repairs. As of 9:00 AM on Monday, May 20th, Bridge X-54 on Oil City Road in Wantage, NJ has been CLOSED to through traffic for repairs. It is anticipated that repairs will be completed, on or about Friday, May 24th.
(5/17/2013) Bridge E-07 CR 631 - Franklin a.k.a Franklin Viaduct Today we poured concrete in the first part of the bridge that will be above grade and visible to public view upon completion. A “crash wall” adjacent to the NYS&W RR tracks was poured. Our next concrete pour will be the Pier 4 columns. Pile driving is nearing completion and should be finished next week, weather permitting. Pieces of the bridge superstructure have begun to arrive. More information about this project including project photos.
(5/17/2013) Rehabilitation of Sussex County Bridge E-06 CR 631 (Church Street) Franklin Borough . Linked is the initial Project Status Report for the Rehabilitation of County Bridge E-06. The project is currently in design with construction award anticipated for August. Construction of the rehabilitation project is expected to start in September and take three to four months to complete. Construction will take place under a full road closure and posted detour. Access to all residences and businesses will be maintained throughout construction.
(5/10/2013) CR-644 (aka Vernon Crossing) Landslide Remediation. On May 10, 2013, at 5:12 p.m., the section of County Route 644, a.k.a. Vernon Crossing Road, between Church Street and State Route 94 was reopened to full service. (4/10/2013) Emergency Replacement of Bridge S-12. As of April 9, 2013, Middleville Road has been fully opened to traffic. All construction activities at the site have been completed. Please see attached Project Status Update Notice regarding the replacement of Sussex County Bridge S-12.
(4/4/2013) Emergency Channel Restoration at Bridge B-05 Milk Street, Branchville. As of April 1, 2013, Milk Street has been fully opened to traffic. (2/28/2013) Emergency Stabilization Repairs of Bridges X-43 and X-50 on CR 651/Unionville Road in Wantage As of February 25, 2013, CR 651/Unionville Road has been fully opened to traffic. All construction activities at the sites have been completed and only the final punch-list items remain. Please see the Project Status Update Notices below.

(2/15/2013) Bridge X-20 Closed - Wantage Township Carrying Berry Road over a Tributary of the West Branch of the Papakating Creek. Damage sustained during the storms of 2011 and subsequent storm events (Hurricane Sandy and other significant flows) have resulted in continued deterioration of the masonry substructure and roadway embankments at Bridge X-20. In the interest of public safety Bridge X-20 has been closed pending construction of a full bridge replacement.

Land Development Standards
Provide rules, regulations, and standards for site plans and subdivisions and procedures for review of site plans and subdivisions within the County's jurisdiction.
The Sussex County Division of Engineering is charged with overseeing the numerous facets associated with maintaining, improving, and monitoring the County's Transportation network. The Division works closely with the Division of Facilities Management providing project support and civil/survey design services for a variety of facility related capital improvement projects. Additionally, the Division of Engineering provides technical support to the Division of Planning.
Included within the Department's responsibilities are tasks such as in-house design of road and bridge improvement projects, management of multimillion dollar design projects, monitoring the condition of bridges; signals; signs; traffic markings and other similar infrastructure items, developing long term capital budgets, construction stakeout, ROW surveys, management of county road and bridge construction projects, track traffic trends, and monitor work within the county right of way through road opening and driveway permits.
