(4/22/2014) Rehabilitation of Sussex County Bridge V-39 CR 642 (Owens Station Road) Vernon/Wantage Townships Attached is a notice for a Public Information Center to be held at the Dorothy-Henry Public Library in Vernon Township for the Rehabilitation of Bridge V-39 in Vernon Township on April 22, 2014 from 6:00 – 7:45 p.m. View the current project status report.

(4/10/2014) Replacement of Sussex County Bridge D-13 CR 630 (Union Turnpike) Frankford Township The final paving and striping for Sussex County Bridge D-13 was completed and CR 630 re-opened to traffic on April 10, 2014. Attached is the final status update report for the project.

(4/9/2014) Main Street Streetscape Project on County Route 517, Ogdensburg Borough The Borough of Ogdensburg will be doing a revitalize project on Main Street from Passaic Avenue to the Ogdensburg Fire House. Construction will commence in April 2014 and is anticipated to take six to eight weeks. Please visit the Ogdenburg website for project updates.

(4/2/2014) Replacement of Sussex County Bridge E-07 CR 631 (North Church Road) Franklin Borough Attached is a project status update report for the Replacement of Sussex County Bridge E-07. Substantial completion and reopening CR 631 to traffic was achieved on December 30, 2013. The contractor has remobilized and is completing punch list items and preparing for landscaping. Final acceptance of the project is expected by June.

(4/2/2014) Rehabilitation of Sussex County Bridge E-06 CR 631 (Church Street) Franklin Borough . Attached is a project status update report for the Rehabilitation of Sussex County Bridge E-06. Substantial completion and reopening CR 631 to traffic was achieved on December 27, 2013. Completion of punch list items and final acceptance of the project is expected by mid May.

(4/2/2014) Rehabilitation of Sussex County Bridge V-39 CR 642 (Owens Station Road) Vernon/Wantage Townships Attached is a project status update report for the Rehabilitation of Sussex County Bridge V-39. At this time, the construction bid documents are 90% complete and construction is expected to commence in July 2014 under a full road closure with a posted detour. Periodic status updates will be provided as the project progresses.

(2/27/2014) Please be advised that the closure of Bridge X-09 on CR-565 (Compton Road) in Wantage, previously scheduled for March 4 - March 6 has been delayed due to currently forecasted weather conditions. The geotechnical investigation work will be rescheduled for later in March when weather conditions permit (i.e. daytime temperatures are above freezing and snow is not anticipated).

Please be advised that the closure of Bridge O-07 on Passaic Avenue in Ogdensburg, previously scheduled for March 7th, 10th, and 11th has been delayed due to currently forecasted weather conditions. The geotechnical investigation work will be rescheduled for later in March when weather conditions permit (i.e. daytime temperatures are above freezing and snow is not anticipated).

(12/30/2013) Replacement of Sussex County Bridge D-12 Frankford Township Attached please find an updated project notice for the replacement of Sussex County bridge D-12 in Frankford Township, carrying Stempert Road over Culver Creek.

(10/31/2013) Project Update Notice: 2013 Resurfacing Program Thursday, October 31st: CR 639, Loomis Avenue, Milling & Paving operations completed. Long Lines and pavement markings to follow in the upcoming weeks.   Monday, November 4th: CR 673, Grumm Road, Milling & Paving will begin and is expected to be completed on Tuesday November 5th.   Please find the most recent update notice attached.

(10/22/2013) Replacement of Sussex County Bridge F-06 - Fredon-Marksboro Road - Fredon Township As of Tuesday, October 22, 2013, Fredon-Marksboro Road is open to traffic at Bridge F-06. All construction activities have been completed and only a few final punch list items remain. For more information on the Reconstruction of Bridge F-06 please see attached public notice.

(2/15/2013) Bridge X-20 Closed - Wantage Township Carrying Berry Road over a Tributary of the West Branch of the Papakating Creek. Damage sustained during the storms of 2011 and subsequent storm events (Hurricane Sandy and other significant flows) have resulted in continued deterioration of the masonry substructure and roadway embankments at Bridge X-20. In the interest of public safety Bridge X-20 has been closed pending construction of a full bridge replacement.

These details have been developed by the Sussex County Division of Engineering to augment, and as appropriate replace, the New Jersey Department of Transportation Standard Construction Details.

Land Development Standards
Provide rules, regulations, and standards for site plans and subdivisions and procedures for review of site plans and subdivisions within the County's jurisdiction.

About 

The Sussex County Division of Engineering is charged with overseeing the numerous facets associated with maintaining, improving, and monitoring the County's Transportation network. The Division works closely with the Division of Facilities Management providing project support and civil/survey design services for a variety of facility related capital improvement projects. Additionally, the Division of Engineering provides technical support to the Division of Planning.

Included within the Department's responsibilities are tasks such as in-house design of road and bridge improvement projects, management of multimillion dollar design projects, monitoring the condition of bridges; signals; signs; traffic markings and other similar infrastructure items, developing long term capital budgets, construction stakeout, ROW surveys, management of county road and bridge construction projects, track traffic trends, and monitor work within the county right of way through road opening and driveway permits.
