On the Horse Farm

To minimize larval habitat on the horse farm:

  • Empty and rinse troughs twice a week
  • Minimize the creation of ground impressions - tire ruts, hoof prints - to a practicable extent
  • Use landscaping to minimize standing surface water
  • Aerate and/or stock small ponds with fish
  • For areas of standing water that cannot be drained use larvicides

  •

To minimize exposure to adult mosquitoes:

  • Keep horses inside during periods of high mosquito activity
  • Keep lights off and fans on at night

  •

Stay informed about maintaining current vaccination on all animals
