Right To Know - The New Jersey Worker and Community Right to Know Act requires public and private employers to provide information about hazardous substances at their workplaces. The Act informs public employees about chemical hazards at their workplace so they can work safely with these hazardous substances; helps firefighters, police, and other emergency responders adequately plan for and respond to incidents such as fires, explosions or spills; and provides data for monitoring and tracking hazardous substances in the workplace and the environment. Defensive Driving - The Sheriff's Office currently has three instructors trained in the presentation of the New Jersey State Safety Council's 6 hour Defensive Driving Program. The course has been presented to all county employees who operate a county owned vehicle. Once the employee passes the course, the certificate and discounts are good for three years. As a result of this program, the County of Sussex has received insurance discounts and has also been praised for their efforts in providing their employees with this valuable program.
