NEW JERSEY SEX OFFENDER INTERNET REGISTRY
Website Address: http://www.njsp.org/
Pursuant to legislation passed on July 23, 2001, the New Jersey Sex Offender Internet Registry (website) has been online since February 2002. However, NOT ALL Sex Offenders will be posted on the website.
Tier 1 (low risk) offenders will not be on the website.
Tier 2 (moderate risk) offenders will be included on the site except for incest cases, statutory rape or if the offender is a juvenile.
All Tier 3 (high risk) offenders will be on the web site. Offenders eligible for the website must have a Megan's Law Hearing in front of a Superior Court Judge. The Judge will then decide if an offender will be placed on the website.
You should check the website periodically as offenders will constantly be added. Presently, New Jersey is not allowed to put an offender's home address on the website. This may change in the future, pending a Federal appeal. The New Jersey Sex Offender Internet Registry (website) can be found at the New Jersey State Police website.
The purpose of this information is to permit you to protect the children in your care from potential harm. Any actions taken by you against these individuals, including vandalism of property, verbal or written threats of harm or physical assault against the person or their family, will result in your arrest and prosecution for criminal acts.
