Substance Abuse Treatment and Recovery Survey
Sussex County Department of Human Services Needs Your Input
(Newton, NJ) The State of New Jersey recognized the importance of addressing the substance abuse problem as far back as 1989 when Public Law Chapter 51 was implemented. This law requires counties to meaningfully address not only the symptoms but the root causes of this pervasive problem. This law also states that each county will establish a citizens advisory committee known as the Local Advisory Committee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (LACADA) and that an annual comprehensive plan be developed to address the services and programs for the care or rehabilitation of intoxicated persons and drug abusers. As part of the comprehensive planning process, Sussex County Department of Human Services is conducting a county-wide survey to obtain information about the treatment and recovery support needs in order to best utilize the funds available for these services.
The Sussex County Department of Human Services needs community feedback about substance abuse treatment needs and recovery support services. Currently the Department is compiling and reviewing data about the current trends, needs, and behaviors regarding the abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, but additional local information is also needed. The information obtained will help in planning for programs and services for indigent county residents who require treatment.
The surveys are brief, anonymous and, if needed, can be completed for a family member or friend. The survey can be accessed on Survey Monkey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/3QKCC52 .
Please take a few minutes to fill out the survey and then forward the link to your neighbors, friends and families. These surveys will be instrumental in planning future resources for those in the community with an alcohol or drug abuse problem. If you do not have access to a computer or the internet and are interested in completing the survey, you can obtain a hard copy by calling the Substance Abuse Coordinator Cindy Armstrong, at 973-948-6000 ext. 1371, or pick up a copy at the Department of Human Services, Division of Community and Youth Services, Sussex County Administrative Center, One Spring Street, 2nd Floor, Newton, NJ.
